Activated Sludge Process

A process for the Biological Purification of Sewage, involving the use of bacteria (activated sludge) and the addition of oxygen in order to remove organic impurities. The activated sludge is separated from the Sewage after the purification process and is re-used or disposal of as surplus sludge.
