Carcinogenicity

 

A characteristic of substances (carcinogens) whereby they give rise to malignant tumors (Cancer). Accorcing to the definition issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), all substances which produce Cancer in animal experiments under specific peripheral conditions shall be designated as carcinogenes. These substances must also to be assumed to have a Cancer- producing potential for humans, in conjunction with which the extent of the risk is dependent on a series of different factors (natur and extent of the effect, personal components, etc.).
