Persistence

An expression used to designate the period for which a chemical substance continues to exist within a particular medium (air, water, soil, living organism, etc.) and the ability of substances to resist physical, chemical or biological Decomposition processes. It is fundamentally true that substances with a high persistance represent a particular risk to the environment.
