Sewage Sludge

The surplus sludge arising from the so called activated sludge tank in the biological Sewage Purification process. Sewage sludge is generally digested in so-called digested towers, in conjunction with which Biogas (Methane gas) is formed which can be used for the supply of energy for the plant. The digested sludge is usually compacted in drying beds or drained by mechanical means. Sewage sludge from local authority sewage contains large amounts of nutrients and humus and is suitable for use as soil improvement agent in certain conditions.
