Waste Heat

The thermal energy produced as a (surplus) by-product of technical or chemical processes. Waste heat is a particular problem especially in conjunctionn with energy production: approximately 60–75 % of the primary energy used finds ist way into the Atmosphere or into waterways as waste heat. This thermal pollution can result in a reduction of the oxygen saturation value in waterways and in the accelaration of the Decomposition processes. Waste heat in the Atmosphere can bring about changes in the (micro-)climate.
