Halogenated Hydrocarbons

A group of substances to which, among others, the polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDD) and dibenzofuranes (PCDF) belong. A total of 210 PCDD and PCDF isomers (derivatives) are known, some with an extremely hazardous nature. These occur mainly as unwanted by-products and find their way way into the environment not only with Waste Gases, but also with products (as impurities), and in particular with Waste from the production of halogenated compounds, and are amongst the most problematic substances which causes damage to the environment. Dioxines are one of the most toxic synthetic substances known.
