Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S)

A gas liberated inter alia as an undesired by-product, for example from the processing of coal, from the production of Carbon Dioxide and cellulose, and from the manufacture of paper. H2S is an irritant gas, which depending on ist concentration, can lead to irritations of the eyes and the mucuous membranes of the nose and throat, to nausea, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea or respiratory arrest. The small concentrations of H2S which are normally present in the environment have a polluting effect because of the unpleasant smell.
