Nickel (Ni)

A Heavy Metal. Finds its way into the environment in particular via foundries, firing installations and Sewage Sludge. Hardly soluble dust-formed nickel compounds are especially problematical for human, as they can cause allergic or inflammatory reactions in the respiratory tract and can even lead to lung Cancer of the lung or of the nasal cavity under certain circumstances.
