Waste Incineration

Waste Incineration at Sea

Special Wastes, for which no adequate disposal facilities are available on land, may be incinerated in furnaces on board of special ships on the high sea. Harmful Substances contained in the Waste Gases pass directly into the Atmosphere, and from there to a certain extent into the sea or onto the land. The incineration process can also give rise to new Harmful Sunstances.

Waste Incineration on Land

Waste Gases (which must be cleaned). The cleaned Waste Gas consists essentaially of the natural components of the air - nitrogen, water vapor and oxygen.

The incineration of Special Waste imposes special requirements. The best known configuration at this time is a rotating tubular kiln, inside which the Waste is incinerated at temperature between 900 and 1300 °C. The resulting combustion gases are burned in a secondary combustion chamber, and the Waste Gas is cleaned using an Electro-filter and a multi- stage Waste Gas washer. Such plants are able to operate without generating any Sewage, if the washer solutions are condensed.
