World-wide Environmental Pollution |

Air pollution can occur at a considerable distance from its Emission Sources, depending on the transformation and transport procedures taking place in the Atmosphere, and can produce regional, extensive or global effects on Ecology and on the Climate Change. The sulphur and nitrogen compounds adverse effects on the environment. The level of Carbon Dioxide has been rising continously for many years in the Atmosphere and may cause heating of the surface of the earth in the longer term. The Emission of quite large quantities of Chlorofluorocarbons constitutes an active threat to the vitality important Ozone layer. Similar world-wide environmental pollution can also be identified as the transport of Dangerous Substances in the rivers and oceans. Attempts have been made repeatedly to record and evaluate world-wide environmental pollution with the help of the so-called “world models” (1972: “Limits of Growth”, report at the request of the “Club of Rome”. 1980: “GLOBAL 2000”, report to the President of the USA). |
