Motor Vehicles

Motor vehicles pollute the environment by Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbons, Oxides of Nitrogen, Smoke particles, Sulphur Dioxide , Lead, Benzene, and Carbon Dioxide.

The Waste Gas cloud produced by the Motor Vehicles can reach a height of 300 m and a width of more than 10 km, depending on the weather conditions. Photo- oxidants are produced in this way, over a large area and in considerable quantity, which are concentrated in the Atmosphere and lead to an increase in the Ozone concentration in layers close to the earth.

The installation of regulated Three-way Catalyzers permits up to 90 % of the Carbon Monoxide, Hydrocarbons and Oxides of Nitrogen to be converted into less problematical substances. Soot can be trapped and burned off by means of a Soot Filter (especially in utility vehicles).
